Sewing for Beginners (Spring 2020)

SKU: Sewing I

Have you always wanted to learn to sew? Here’s your opportunity! In this 4-session course, instructor Janice Darrah will teach you the basics, beginning with the parts of the sewing machine and how to operate it correctly. Participants will learn the basics of sewing, running a sewing machine, cutting out and assembling and creating a finished project – a pillowcase. Janice is a well-known local seamstress and the owner of Sew Much More in Coudersport. She has been sewing her entire life, and her experience includes teaching sewing at Hebron Center Christian School.

Please bring the following to class: a sewing machine (The instructor has a limited number available to use, so let us know ahead of time if you would like to use one.); straight pins; fabric scissors (not the kind used to cut paper); tape measure; seam ripper, as well as the fabric needed for your project (3/4 yard of fabric for the main part; 1/3 yard of fabric for the cuff, and 1/8 yard of fabric for the accent trim. This is enough fabric to make one pillowcase, except the amount of trim fabric is enough for two pillowcases.).

Class will meet on Tuesdays starting February 4 through February 25, 2020.

Registration deadline is Tuesday, January 28th. Class size is limited, so register today.
