STEM Saturdays at the CTC (Spring 2018)

During these highly engaging Saturday sessions, students will explore the Code.org Computer Science Discoveries curriculum, while learning to configure and troubleshoot a MinecraftEdu Local Area Network (LAN). Other activities include Geocaching, Robotics, Coding, Video Game Design, and a variety of STEM challenges.

This workshop is open to students in 5th through 8th grades.

Kids 4 I.T. Summer Camp (Week 2)

Kids 4 IT will be a"MAZE"ing! STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education. By combining these important topics students will utilize their problem solving and critical thinking skills helping to prepare for their future. At Kids 4 IT, we will explore all aspects of this quad while “playing" with mazes. Students will explore circuit mazes, gravity mazes, lazer mazes and even create their own. Students will dabble in computer programming through color language and blocking.

Students will receive a Lubuntu computing system and Hyperduino at the end of the week.

This camp is for students entering grades 5 - 9 (2017 - 2018) school year.

Kids for IT Camp 2016 (Camp 2)

This camp will provide a fun, hands-on program allowing students the opportunity to explore technology related careers. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of computer networking. They will design their own game in Scratch and use various other applications as a basis for student inquiry of technology and its many applications. Each student will also use and explore an innovative piece of technology during the camp and it will be theirs to keep at the conclusion of the week.

For students entering 5th through 7th grades. Maximum number of participants is 12.

Health Care Camp 2016

This camp will focus on the body systems and how they work. Students will be using the SIMS (simulated) mannequin; learning basic health care skills and basic first aid skills. There will be guest speakers discussing the different occupations available in the health care field and one day will be filled with a job shadowing experience at a local hospital.

For students entering 6th through 9th grades. Maximum number of participants is 10.

Techsploration 2016 - Grades 5 - 9

During this program, students will learn about the many technical job opportunities in the region and the local educational providers who can help prepare them for careers in the technical fields. Students will participate in a variety of hands-on learning opportunities in multiple shops. These activities will be based on the student's age level to ensure safety and success.

STEM Survival Camp 2016

Do you want to have a nice, relaxing vacation? Then this is NOT for you! In this STEM camp, you’ll spend two fun-filled days surviving the Great Austin STEM Lab Disaster. The lights won’t work. Who needs them? We’ll build our own flashlight! The fans won’t work! Who cares? We’ll make one out of a battery, a magnet, and some wire! Think you have what it takes to survive? There’s only one way to find out!

For students entering grades 4 - 7. Maximum number of participants is 18 -20.

Participants in this camp will have in depth experiences with MinecraftEdu, Raspberry Pi3, Programming/Coding, Augmented/Virtual Reality, Geocaching, and the ability to explore a topic of their own (3D design/printing, Drones, Rockets, Legos, K'Nex, Ozobots, Role-playing games, Movie production/green screening) during our daily Genius Hour. Students will receive a Raspberry Pi3 computing system and a Google Cardboard Kit (phone excluded) at the end of the week.

For students entering grades 5 - 9. Maximum number of participants is 15.
