If so, the Potter County Youth Leadership Program is the right place for you! 

The purpose of the Potter County Youth Leadership (PCYL) program is to engage youth to discover and develop their leadership strengths and capacities to work cooperatively to improve their communities.  

The PCYL  program is open to all students entering grades 10-12. Program applications are available through the Potter County School Districts or the Potter County Education Council. Completed applications are to be submitted to the Potter County Education Council by the May due date listed on the application form. Students will be notified of acceptance by mid-June. 

Program Schedule and Session Topics:

The program will run from September – March and consists of seven sessions at various locations throughout Potter County.  Graduation will be held in early April as a celebration of the students’ accomplishments.

  • Human Services & Society 
  • Post-Secondary Education & Careers

In addition to the session topics, essential leadership-related skills will be addressed such as professionalism, greetings & introductions, dealing with deadlines, time management, and public speaking & communication skills. 

The program is provided at no cost to the student. Transportation to and from each session is the responsibility of either the school or the student’s family.

An Innovative Leadership Program 

Potter County Youth Leadership focuses on making participants aware of the broad issues that face their communities and the potential for being a leader  in Potter County.

Each Session will Include:

  • Tools to improve participants’ leadership and development skills.
  • Introduction to key factors and organizations that impact quality of life in Potter County.
  • Introduction to future trends that will impact Potter County and exploring ways to take advantage of these trends as they occur.
